The Private Practice Planner

Grow your patient numbers and profits by working smarter, not harder.

The Private Practice Planner  & Yearbook is an all-in-one diary, organiser, business analyst and strategist for consultant doctors and surgeons. This system will help you focus, prioritise and get things done.

Being busy doesn’t mean you’re growing your business

If you’re not spending your time on the right things, you can work all the hours you can spare, but your business won’t grow.

And because what makes a healthy private practice is different for everyone, the “right” things to do can be different for everyone as well.

Maybe you want to build a business empire and have your own chain of clinics.

Or retire from the NHS and work privately full-time.

Maybe you just want to pay the kid’s school fees and go on some nice holidays.

Or perhaps you want more autonomy; to treat more patients and give them more of your time in clinic.

Whatever you want, one thing’s for certain: It’s tough to stay focused on what’s most important when you’re in the day-to-day of running around treating patients – especially if it’s on top of your NHS role.

You’re being pulled in so many directions by other people’s (sometimes vested) interests and opinions, by hospitals and insurers, maybe your own self-doubt (you’re a trained clinician, not a business school grad, after all), and there’s no manager to tell you what to work on next.

Without a flexible and effective approach for managing your day-to-day work and knowing what to focus on, it’s easy to end up forever rushing between half empty clinics, spreading yourself thin, and procrastinating about your next steps, over and over again.

But when you’ve got a healthy and flexible system for managing your work and getting the important jobs done, you’re finally able to….

Have the clarity to figure out who your ideal patient is and what their biggest hurdles are when choosing a private consultant.

Know how to market yourself effectively without feeling awkward.

Make decisions more easily because you know what you’re working towards, and you’re no longer worried about making a mistake, or the cost of inaction.

Spend time with your friends and family without always feeling like there’s something else you should be doing.

Get referrals and self-pay appointments more easily and consistently, filling up your clinics.

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Isn’t this what you hoped your private practice business would be? It can!

Introducing the Private Practice Planner

(the all-in-one yearbook, diary, calendar, business analyst & strategist)

The Private Practice Planner is a book I designed after working with dozens of consultants and observing some similar patterns:

➡️ Running around trying to keep on top of everything

➡️ Being incredibly time poor

➡️ And not knowing what to focus on next to grow their business.

My Planner will help you to:

Conduct a methodical, step-by-step analysis of your business

Help you focus on key performance indicators such as revenue and profit, referrals, your patient mix, billing and invoicing, marketing and more

Plan SMART goals for the year, and break them down into quarterly and monthly objectives

Easily track your progress with quick and simple quarterly and monthly reviews

Keep on top of your workload with weekly layouts

So, what is the Private Practice Planner?

Open planner showing an excerpt of a weekly layout

It’s a planner and goal setting workbook designed specifically for consultant doctors and surgeons in private practice.

It encourages you to pick up some quick-and-easy “good habits” that help you think about (and manage) your focus and priorities.

This makes you more resilient to interruptions and more able to achieve your goals, even amongst the chaos of everyday life.

It might not always be the most glamorous stuff, but it lets you focus on what really matters in the business of private practice. And it works.

Can I buy the Private Practice Planner anywhere else?

The Private Practice Planner is only available from privatepracticeplanner.co.uk – but Private Practice Surgery members can get their discount code from Member Perks.

Should I wait until January to start using it?

This is an undated planner, meaning you add your own dates and can start using it at any time of year.

On top of that, if you need to stop using it for a while (or accidentally fall out of the habit… hey, we’re only human!) then you can pick it back up again later and start again from that date, so you won’t waste any pages as you would with a dated planner.

Do I really need a £34 diary?

No. But then, the Private Practice Planner isn’t just a diary. It’s a tool to help you work differently so that you can get your business working the way you want it to – and making you the money that matches the effort you put into it.

Writing down lists and to-dos won’t get you there unless you figure out what you really need to work on to ‘move the needle’ in your business’s performance.

If you’ve already got that under control, you’ve got a good time management and organisation system, and you’re just looking for somewhere to write appointments and jot things down, then you will indeed find that a cheaper diary will do the trick.

But here’s what an ordinary diary can’t help you with:

  • A deep dive analysis of your niche private practice
  • A planning system that keeps you on target towards your annual objectives
  • Figuring out what to do first out of all the things you could (or should) do – but that never seem to actually get done.

The Private Practice Planner is designed to help you make considerably more money than the £34 outlay, giving you an outstanding (and substantial!) return on investment.

How much is shipping? When will I receive it?

Postage and packaging charges for the printed version of the Private Practice Planner are £X to mainland UK addresses.

All charges are per book. Please note that all books will be shipped in individual parcels, even if you order more than one copy.

If you are ordering from outside the UK, you may be charged import duty and taxes. For more information about how much these charges may be, check with the customs authority in your country.

Delivery times are usually around 3-5 days after dispatch to the UK.

Please note that delivery timeframes are only an estimate and can be affected by factors outside of our control with the courier, so we cannot guarantee that your parcel will arrive by a specific date or within a specific timeframe.

Should I buy the printed book or the PDF? What's the difference?

The contents of the two versions are exactly the same.

The main reason I have two options is because I know people like to work in different ways.

Some might like to buy the PDF version to print out at home/work/local printers because they already have a folder or document holder they’d like to use.

Others might want to use it on their iPad/Android tablet with apps such as Goodnotes, Notability, Evernote, etc, or on their ReMarkable device.

PLEASE NOTE: If you’re intending to print the PDF version yourself, please bear in mind that the book is almost 250 pages and having it professionally printed may be expensive. Please check prices before you order as it may end up more expensive than buying the printed version.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE that we are not able to offset the cost of the PDF version against an order of the printed book if you change your mind about which version you would like to use.

What if I want to buy both versions?

You will need to place two separate orders, one for the printed book and one for the PDF version.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer discounts for multiple purchases.

PLEASE NOTE that we are not able to offset the cost of the PDF version against an order of the printed book if you change your mind about which version you would like to use.

Can I have a discount?

Only Private Practice Surgery members are eligible for a discount. If you’re a member, you can get your discount codes here: XXX

If you’re not yet a member, you can find out about membership at privatepracticesurgery.co.uk.

I have more questions. Who can I contact?

Send your questions to support@privatepracticeplanner.co.uk or ask in our free Healthy Private Practice Facebook group and I’ll do my best to answer.
